Five Lanterns, from Ewossa to Rwanda.

Lantern 1 is under construction in Ewossa, Edo State. Lanterns 2 to 5 are planned for Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya and Rwanda, and each one is built only once it is fully funded.

Turn each postcard over for the facts.

The picture side shows part of the design every Lantern shares. The written side says where it goes, where it stands, what it costs and when it is planned to light.

Notice to sendersTargets are planning estimates in US dollars. Funds raised are being confirmed and will appear only once verified. A Lantern is built only once it is fully funded.

Each target pays for a whole, working Lantern.

An estimated target is the full cost of one Lantern, from the containers to its first three years of running. It is a planning estimate, not a quote.

Lantern 1 of 1,000.

Twenty-five Lanterns by 2030 is the plan. A thousand by 2050 is the goal: in villages and developing regions across the globe, a million children learning by their own light.

We are building towards it one fully funded Lantern at a time.

A thousand by 2050, and a million children: the goal.

Four stamps, each zooming out from the last. Now: one square, Lantern 1, under construction. 2027: five squares, Lanterns 1 to 5. 2030: twenty-five squares, the plan. 2050: a sheet of a thousand, with the first twenty-five marked: the goal.

Know a village that needs a Lantern?

Lanterns 2 to 5 still need their villages, and the plan is 25 by 2030. Put a village forward and it becomes a candidate: not a promise, but the first of six careful steps.

Choose the next village.
